BSBIOS promotes action of environmental awareness

Collaborators receive training on selective collection

Last Tuesday (19), BSBIOS gathered collaborators from several departments to accomplish one more action in order to make people aware of the environment towards selective collection and garbage destination. The work was fulfilled by BSBIOS in partnership with SESI, and it counts on the lecture of biologist Gisele Ana Rebelato and the coordinator of the Quality Control of BSBIOS, Larisse Garibotti. The activity integrates continuing trainings of Good Practices of Manufacturing.

The activity began with the presentation and reflection on the movie "Ilha das Flores", by Jorge Furtado. Biologist Gisele emphasized that, despite this short film is from the 1980 s, the reality of garbage is still the same "Garbage in Brazil has increased. In order to change this situation, besides public investment in infrastructure to create sanitary landfills, the population ought to be aware that it is necessary to separate garbage," he asserted. It is necessary to apply 5 basic concepts on garbage (5 R's): Rethinking, Refusing, Reducing, Reusing and Recycling.

Next, coordinator Larisse highlighted the work which is achieved at BSBIOS. "Besides the selective collection implanted in all locals of the company, we have achieved a special collection and destination work to all waste generated by the company," he guaranteed. The company keeps a Waste Center, where all material collected is separated, wrapped and directed to licensed companies.

Larisse explained some works achieved: paper, cardboard and plastic are directed to licensed recycling Companies, the material collected from the filtering pie, boiler ashes, waste from the laboratory, useless EPI'S and plastic drums are given specific destination. Organic materials and non-recycling are directed to the industrial landfill, tins of ink return to their suppliers. A special work of collecting bulbs and dry cells is also accomplished. Some scraps are still donated to artisans of the town.

BSBIOS still maintains a Treatment Station of Sanitary Sewers. "The plant of extraction has a Zero System of Sanitary Sewers, where all waste of water is vaporized and used inside the plant. Yet, 100% of domestic sanitary sewers generated in the administrative building, dressing room, restaurant, laboratory and building of producers are treated," emphasized Larisse.
